Death of a toddler in a stray dog attack near Hyderabad last month has brought the focus back on rampant canine attacks in the State resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. With euthanisation ruled out as a solution, preventive measures by the State government are centered around Animal Birth Control strategies. However, poor implementation of the strategies, inadequate solid waste management practices and misplaced empathy are cited as causes for the urban scourge, reports Swathi Vadlamudi
